The Notice Wall

What is built, what is not, and why you cannot play yet.

Cradle Station has a Notice Wall that turns over every Cycle. This is its counterpart: the public record of where the project actually stands, without the marketing.

Current standing

Galatea has never been deployed to a public host. It runs on a developer's machine, it has been played by one person, and it is not accepting players.

Built and running

All of this exists and is exercised by automated tests on every change. It runs on a development machine — which is not the same as running for you.

Working

The city runs

Eight districts and Cradle Station, each its own instance. You walk to a platform gate, click, and arrive somewhere else.

Working

Work and wages

Job slots, villager backfill, shifts, seven skills, and a wage that lands when you clock out. Jobs are seeded across every district.

Working

One ledger

Every Credit in Galatea is derived from a single append-only double-entry journal. No subsystem holds money off the books, and no transfer can pay twice.

Working

Build Mode

Two-click walls, rooms and floors. Doors, windows, staircases, roofs, furniture. Live placement preview, a quote before you are charged, and construction in four real stages.

Working

Property and upkeep

Plots in four sizes, buying and leasing, livability scoring, rent, property tax and upkeep every Cycle whether you are online or not.

Working

Commerce

Businesses with their own accounts, workshop recipes, stock, leases, loans, mortgages, and the Galatea Exchange with an explicit confirmation before Credits move.

Working

Physical goods

Receiving bays, stockrooms, dispatch docks and a public freight board. A shop's shelves stay empty until someone actually delivers.

Working

Power, Water and Warmth

Real networks with finite capacity, deterministic plant wear, repair jobs when something fails — and a structural guarantee that an occupied home is never dark while a business is served.

Working

Crime and consequence

Heat, dirty Credits that cannot be banked, smuggling, fences, laundering, break-ins, the Watch, arrest, jail, bail, fines and a courts baseline.

Working

City events

Eighteen kinds of event with real causes and endings. None of them can mint Credits, conjure goods, or make crime the obvious choice.

Not finished

The gap between "built" and "open" is this list. It is published in full rather than summarised, because a partial list would be worse than none.

Not started

It has never been deployed

No image has been built and pushed to a real host, and no production rehearsal has been run. Every test to date ran against a local development stack.

Not started

It has been played by one person

Three logged sessions, all on the same day, all with a single participant. Automated simulation is not player validation, and every tuning number is provisional until it meets people.

Partial

The city does not yet run itself

The system that lets the city open and resolve its own events is fully built, but it is set to observe only. Turning it up is a deliberate, audited decision that has not been taken.

Partial

Two districts are undressed

Parkside and The Spire are real, walkable places, but they have no bespoke materials yet and build from stock blocks.

Partial

Most events have no staging

Four of the eighteen event kinds change how a district physically looks. The other fourteen are announced, and felt through their effects, rather than staged.

Not started

There is no address, and no community link

Both are still to be chosen. Nothing has been reserved, and nothing is being held back — when they exist, they will be posted here.

When it opens

This is the page it will be posted on.

The address and the community link will be published here, first, when they exist. There is no list to join and nothing to sign up for — that would mean collecting your email for an event that has no date.
